Mobile phone sites get most hits

The behavior of broadband users has been revealed in a recent study, and it appears that mobile phone websites have been among the most visited in the last year.

Research by the Nielsen Company revealed the sector saw growth of 58 per cent in the last twelve months, with a number of individual sites highlighted for their performance.

The results suggested growing popularity of mobile phone recycling, shown by traffic increases for firms like Mazuma and envirofone, while other manufacturers and networks also enjoyed significant rises.

Nokia was shown to be up by over 200 per cent in July when compared to the same month in 2008, while the number of unique visitors to Vodafone and O2 sites was up by 91 per cent and 79 per cent respectively.
The second-fastest growing area of web activity was found to be food and cooking – just two per cent behind mobile phones at 56 per cent.

Website that offered access to coupons and rewards experienced a 55 per cent growth, while insurance pages enjoyed increases of 53 per cent.

Other categories highlighted included car manufacturers (44 per cent), health, fitness and nutrition (40 per cent), computer hardware (37 per cent), delivery services (34 per cent) and parenting (33 per cent).
