Software solutions company SAP has said that it will ensure that it pushed useful data to business mobiles in the future.
In an interview with Computerworld, Sanjay Poonen, executive vice president at SAP, explained how, although on-premises software was still the priority, cloud-based services and access from portable devices would become important.
He added that making data available in more places is one of the big changes faced by suppliers such as his company.
Mr Pooneen told the news provider: “If customers need us to push real time data of any sort to their mobile devices, we’ll do it. This is the main reason for the Sybase acquisition.
“Many customers want data on the move before they go into a meeting, or when they’re out of the office but have to make an important business decision.”
SAP is currently in the midst of a $5.8 billion acquisition of mobile software firm Sybase.
Customer relationship management software and supply chain management software are among the products available from SAP.
