A mobile phone expert has suggested that availability problems with the new iPhone will not necessarily affect the Apple brand.
According to market research firm iSuppli, demand for the new device has led to the company and networks being overwhelmed, meaning some shipment dates have had to be pushed back.
Despite the suggestion that this could affect trust in the brand and its management, Flora Graham, mobile phones editor at CNET UK, explained how the damage would be limited.
“Their brand is so unique in the way that it is built up that I don’t think it will have a long-term negative effect and it’s not the first time Apple products have been rare,” she said.
“The fact that they are rare early on adds a little sense of elitism or a positive spin on how desirable those products are.”
Released on June 24th, the Apple iPhone 4 gives business mobile users the opportunity to take advantage of video calling, while it has the highest resolution screen ever fitted on a handset.
