phone & broadband for business
Research by Nectar has shown just how much people in the UK rely on their business mobile phones.
According to the company, which runs a reward points scheme for businesses as well as consumers, a survey of over 1,000 workers found that a fifth of them keep their phone on over the weekend.
Meanwhile, 79 per cent of respondents said that they had never met at least one person they do business with and 71 per cent believed that email was the best way of staying in touch with a colleague.
Entrepreneur James Caan, who has helped many small businesses get off the ground through the television programme Dragon’s Den, believes face-to-face interaction is still valuable alongside modern technology.
He said: "New technology has evolved and businesses are now run very differently compared to when I started out.
"The key to making the most of technology in business is to ensure it’s used as an additional tool rather than the only form of contact with colleagues."
Nectar released the findings of the survey as part of the launch of its 2010 Small Business Awards.
Companies can apply to be considered in categories including ‘Small Business of the Year’ and ‘Online Business of the Year’ with winners collecting prizes worth up to £4,000 and 50,000 Nectar Points.
