Broadband speed problems explained

A broadband expert has explained why some businesses and consumers may be suffering from slow broadband speeds.

Research by O2 recently found that 41 per cent of British people cited a slow internet connection as the most annoying part of their day, while it is also true that broadband speeds in the UK are lower than a number of other western countries.

Richard Patterson, writer at broadband-expert.co.uk, explained why broadband customers may be getting frustrated.

He said: “There are a number of issues that impact speed, such as distance form the exchange, contention ratio and even weather conditions that mean most people are never likely to get close to 100 per cent of the maximum quoted speed.

“Some broadband providers will give you an idea of the expected speed before signing up to their service so it’s always worth checking this before signing a contract.”

Of course another factor that may contribute to slow internet speeds is not necessarily the broadband connection, but the way in which a Wi-Fi router is configured or positioned within a building.ADNFCR-2811-ID-19803662-ADNFCR
