Broadband customers switching

A new study has shown that more than 50 per cent of broadband users have switched their supplier at some point.

Research by Orchid Consulting found that connectivity was the main reason for leaving a provider, although price was the priority when choosing a new one.

However, the study also established that 81 per cent of people are satisfied with their current broadband supplier.

The report was authored by Keith Gait, founder and principal consultant at Orchid Consulting, and he explained some of the findings.

“People aren’t afraid of switching if connectivity speed is not up to scratch, and poor customer retention can prove very costly,” he said.

“What’s interesting is that price is the biggest single driver of purchasing decisions, not reliability of service. It would be more logical that if people want to switch that they should choose their new provider on the same basis that they decided to leave the old one.”

Meanwhile, it was recently pointed out that a strike by BT staff could affect business broadband services around the country.ADNFCR-2811-ID-19815717-ADNFCR
