Advice for staying within broadband download limits

A broadband expert has given advice on making sure that businesses do not exceed their download limits.

Richard Patterson from broadband-expert.co.uk offered some tips on staying within download limits and speeding up page loading times.

“Make sure you are on the latest version of your chosen browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari etc), which may download web pages quicker. It’s also worth clearing your browser’s cache periodically as, when it’s too full, it can slow down browsing speedsm,” he said.

“Make sure you’re not running software and applications you don’t need which take up bandwidth and slow speeds down.”

He also suggested that peer-to-peer services should be disabled as these can slow down internet connections.

One factor which may contribute to businesses or households exceeding their downloading limit over the coming weeks is the World Cup, with many fans expected to follow the football on their computers.

The sport’s governing body, FIFA, has estimated that it will serve 5.5 billion page views to fans over the 2010 World Cup through its official website.ADNFCR-2811-ID-19821090-ADNFCR
