Security concerns not a worry with Windows, claims expert

Businesses with security concerns about the Windows operating system have been told not to worry by a computer expert.

The issue recently hit the headlines when it was reported in the Financial Times that Google is to phase out use of Microsoft Windows on its computers because of recent security breaches.

Mike Simons, editor of ComputerworldUK.com, set out the reasons why businesses using Windows should not be concerned.

He said: "Windows will remain the dominant operating system on enterprise desktops for many years to come. The reasons Google employees gave to the Financial Times for the decision to drop Windows don’t add up.

"If Google is dropping Windows, it is more to do with the rivalry between the two firms on everything from search to desktop productivity apps than it is to do with security."

In a post on the official Windows Team Blog, Brandon LeBlanc, a communications manager at Microsoft, also pointed out that security was a top priority for the firm and that regular updates keep customers safe.ADNFCR-2811-ID-19821093-ADNFCR
