Businesses in Coventry may be interested to know that they are the most likely to receive spam messages, according to new research.
A study by MessageLabs Intelligence has established that it is the town or city sent the most spam, while Warwickshire is the region that is most spammed.
Meanwhile, the research also found that the most spammed sectors were telecoms, accommodation and catering, and education, while the automotive, recreation and estate agents industries were least affected.
Paul Wood, MessageLabs Intelligence senior analyst at Symantec Hosted Services, said: “This latest study shows that looks can be deceiving and that no town or city, whatever its size, is immune to cyber criminals. However, the good news is that security solutions in the cloud can be flexible and scaled to match the needs of any organisation.
“Interestingly, industries like manufacturing, automotive, building and construction, which may employ many people, receive less spam.”
It is important for businesses to make sure their employees do not click on links within spam messages as they could lead to malware infecting computers.
