Advice to help small businesses with employee satisfaction

Small business owners may be interested to know that employees are looking for honesty from their organisations to help them feel more appreciated.

Research carried out by chrysaliscourses.co.uk has found that six out of ten British people are unhappy in their job at the moment, while a third feel unappreciated.

Claire McCartney, resourcing and talent planning adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, explained how both bosses and employees could help to improve the situation.

She said: “Employees want honesty from senior leaders about the current situation within their organisations. That way they can be united around a common aim and develop ways of working together to meet challenges.

“Organisations need to develop the people management skills of their line managers and acknowledge the importance of saying thank you for a job well done.”

Earlier this month, a survey by HR consultancy Reabur established that 21 per cent of employees feel bullied by their boss at work, while a further 28 per cent feel picked on by a peer at work.ADNFCR-2811-ID-19902798-ADNFCR
