Welcome to our easy to use Broadband Speed Checker. In order to test your broadband speed, you must have Flash Player installed and Javascript enabled. The checker will test your download speed by downloading a small file, and measuring how long this takes. The checker will then upload a file in order to check your upload speed. To get the most accurate results, it is recommended that you stop running any other applications which might compete for your broadband – such as instant messenger or download programs.
What do I need to use Broadband Speed Checker?
You must have Flash version 8 installed and JavaScript enabled.
Why is the download test not working?
If you have a firewall or antivirus software installed that is not configured properly, then this may cause the speed checker to not perform correctly. Try disabling the firewall / antivirus when you are running the speed checker. Remember to turn it back on after the test is complete so you stay protected.
What applications might affect the speed test?
Any applications running on your PC can affect its speed, so you should disable temporarily:
- email checking software
- instant messenger or other chat software
- internet radio
- windows updates
- any other downloading
Our upload speed test is done via a server in the UK. If you are in a country other than the UK then upload speed might not be so accurate. The download speed should be accurate all around the world as we use content delivery network with multiple servers around the world.

How long it takes the speed checker to complete?
While the checker aims to be as accurate as possible, there are several factors that could affect the test. The speed checker measures the speed at the time of the test so if your network is running slow at that time then speed checker will report a slow speed. This does not necessarily mean that your internet connection is slow at the other times.
